This was my 3rd visit to Monte Rei and would have to say that the condition of the course was slightly disappointing. The welcome and attitude of the staff was, as usual, first class. The practice facilities were excellent but I feel there has been a definite decline in the condition of the course. The fairways are very dry, the greens a bit bumpy in places with some showing signs of disease and the bunkers were inconsistent with signs of grass growing through the sand. This course has always been the pinnacle of my visits to the Algarve but I think it may be my last as it is increasingly difficult to justify the undeniably high fees for an disappointing experience. If you do play the course, pay the extra €5 for the tapas. It is outstanding value.

Great layout and a very challenging course. Greens and fairways were in very good condition. What spoiled the things for me was the added extras. The course is already one of the most expensive in the Algarve but to charge 50 Euros for a buggy and not even put a bottle of water in it is ridiculous. Also adding a 4 Euro charge for 24 balls on a scruffy practice area just takes the shine off what would have been a most enjoyable experience.

Great layout and excellent condition. Staff all very pleasant and practice facilities are excellent. The only thing that slightly spoiled the experience for me was the slow rate of play. There are plenty of stewards on the course but they appear unwilling to do anything about slow groups. Will definitely play again though.
