Having read some reviews that this was a poor imitation of its previous quality, we found it much better than expected. In generally good condition with excellent greens (quick and true), good fairways and is obviously looked after. Most of the tees were pretty worn, a consequence of the markers being in exactly the same place too often. Parts of the clubhouse looked tired while other parts were very smart in that old-school Iberian way.One minor point is that on arrival the lady at the reception desk thought I was a 1-ball with one buggy - our group was actually 6 players with 3 buggies. Fortunately this didn’t affect our booking but boy was she miserable!

Having played Espiche two days before and this being more expensive, we were a little disappointed in Boavista. It has some lovely holes but others not so and seemed in average condition. The practice area was particularly poor with the putting green a shambles. It seemed like many of the greens had suffered the same issue and not much thought was given to moving the pins away from the poorer areas. In addition, the bunkers were just dreadful, not much sand, very hard and full of stones.On the plus side, the holes over the ravine are quite spectacular, particularly the par 3 to a raised green with a large step in it. We had lots of time to consider his hole as over a 10-minute wait on the tee - why oh why are this and the other long par-3 (14th) not call-up holes?All in all, a decent track with some good holes but let down by the condition, waiting times in the tees and overpriced compared to other courses in the region.

The price of this course had our group thinking it would the least impressive of the 3 we played on our short trip. However it was undoubtedly the best from the amazing clubhouse, to the welcome in the shop, bar and starter and then onto the course. Someone described it as a ball-eater and it certainly is. Stray off the fairway and it is almost always a reload. Some great holes from the first (with the wall 270 yards off the tee) with several strong and fun par-3s.Take plenty of balls, hire a buggy and enjoy.
