The areas around the lagoons remain among the very best of golf experiences in the Algarve worth 5 stars. Sadly the overall quality of the course has clearly declined to nearer 3 stars since last played about 5 years ago. There are many competitors at the same price in much better condition if course maintenance is your priority but if you like a watery challenge and stunning location, this will tick your box.

Course was in excellent condition, particularly the greens which were fast and true. Some really excellent holes across the water on the back nine, a great experience.

An absolutely fantastic layout the best of 4 Nicklaus designs I have played. It will test your golf brain! Excellent service from all members of staff who are very welcoming, and the standard of food was first class too. Don’t be put off by the fire a few months ago, the current discounts on offer more than make up for it. I shall play it again it was that good.

Have not played the Pria 9 but returning to the Alvor & Lagos loops again because of the wonderful views across the estuary and coastline. Worth every penny usually except this time there is a large scale building development just behind the new clubhouse. The latter is stunning but some discount off the golf is in order because you are by a building site. Shame as it is a great course.
